I should REALLY be studying, but my hangover attention span is not unlike a squirrel's
also,OOooh this is too fun! and I just happen to love talking about myself.
here's mine:
1. I am a mutant because I have 4 kidneys instead of 2. Seriously, I have to show every new doctor an Xray of them.
2. Arnold Schwarzenegger was my childhood hero and I watched his movies religiously.
3. On my nineteenth birthday, I saw two cops being assholes. I also saw their two cop cars parked in a row and spraypainted FUCK on the first one and PIGS on the second, covered their windshields in paint and ran the FUCK away.
4. I was raised in the research city Akademgorodok, until the age of six when my family took the trans-Siberian to Moscow and then Ottawa.
5. I had to live off being a pro thief while living with Ru. Which landed me in a cell at one point. All charges were dropped and fingerprints destroyed, because they found out...
6. I was chair of YOUCAN youth Canada for approximately a year.
7. My only "real" job while living with Ru was being a figure and portrait model for art classes (yes, w/ the occasional nudity). It paid 20$ an hour and I have some awesome portraits of myself.
8. When running the world dance club in highschool, I learned how to do religious hindu dances and performed them with a bunch of Indian girls at the end of year assembly.
9. I used to DJ and breakdance, but sucked at both.
10. I successfully faked being Jewish to go on Birthright Israel. Where I learned lots of interesting stuff about Jewish culture, got to eat delicious kosher, and got a cheap flight to Belgium where I met my favorite designer!

Even worse than mispronounciation is when people mistake certain words for others. At this stage in life, and particularly after so much eduaction there is no room for such mistakes. Especially, for a communicator. My favourite is the common misconception of the word "regime". People always say: "I'm on this new regime to lose weight". ????? Are you kidding me? Get it right people. It's regimen!!! A regime is a form of governemt; a prevailing social system or pattern. Good. Now you know. Let's all say it together one more time now..."REGIMEN."

Lisa,

Although I do not buy in to Apple's marketing schemes, seeing Apple as a master of pseudo-individualization, I understand the strife of finding an organization with an appropriate corporate culture. I always pictured myself in a power-suit, working downtown in a fancy office. However, I recently went for an interview at Langton Communications and fell for their culture. The office is warm and laid back, and the women that work there are extremely friendly and welcoming. Despite the relaxed environment, they work hard and get a lot done. If the office wasn't in Woodbridge, I could totally see myself working there. Now, I am unsure whether I was wrong about what I wanted in a corporate culture, or whether there is more than one culture for me.

I agree Lisa...great post...great blogsite! As a Mac person myself (Mac being a 'macdaddy' and a MacBook user), I can relate with the whole brand identity. I recently visited a Mac store and I was impressed with their friendly service, atmosphere (cool, chic and..well..should I say Mac'nificient). Even look at their television ads which is a clever example of how to run an ad campaign. The message is clear, the theme is catchy but not overkill, there exists product differentiation, and it's simple yet convincing.
Brilliant! It speaks to a wide audience but with a common trait...Creative, cool, hip and stylish...wait..that's you Lisa!
Cheers!

Hi, I found your blog through a friend of a friend of a friend, you could say.

I was directed to that site a few years back and it is definately what you said about perfectionists ruining their "works of art". I still somehow manage to go WAY overboard with the colour, even though I have used the site many times.

(Great blog by the way)

Apple's hot! I echo your 'I love it, I love it, I love it.' Although, I am writing this on a PC.

I have special insight. I worked at the elgin theater backstage and as an usher, and lemme tell ya, the closer you get the more the cracks and wrinkles stand out.

The odd castign choice of Kurt Browning pales in comparison to the discomfort afflictec upon a rational thinking adult when they realize that Ross Petty has been annually using the place as a venue for children's show built around the concept of him getting to walk around in women's clothing.

Its a pattern. In wizard of oz he was the witch. In snow white he was the evil queen. Always a lady. If thats fine, Kurt is finer.

I haven't checked out Flog Blog, but I know that Wordpress has had a Facebook application for a while.
It could be a good way to get readers, but If ind that most of my Facebook friends weren't really that interested in reading what I had to say about Social Media/Technology/PR, so I took it off. I might have gotten some traffic to my blog, but it wouldn't have been from readers that would have found value in it.

Two really big issues for corporations these days: attracting suitable employees and retaining them. So, smart companies create ads to inspire "their kind" to apply. And, I think creative ads like this speak volumes and, as you suggest, about the company's culture. All smart stuff, I think.
